about me

(As many of you know Silent Cricket passed away on Feb. 29. Since she loved Recipezaar so much and so many on Recipezaar have shown their love for her, and have enjoyed her recipes, her personal information will remain here indefinitely just as she wrote it. Her lines at the end of this section sound somewhat prophetic as the last chapter of her earthly existence has been written.)

Well, the time has come for me to change my users' name. After being, "OzCoMartha" because of having lived for three years in Australia and then moving to Colorado, I have decided to "turn over a new leaf." I chose this name because many moons ago I used to be able to "chirp" like a cricket and the "silent" refers to the present time when I'm taking a break...But, perhaps after a season, however long I decide that needs to be, I may be back and then I will fill in more details about myself...

Favorite Foods:

After living overseas for over 15 years, I have favorite foods from the southern Caribbean island of Bonaire, the southern Pacific island of Guam, and in Australia! I love good ol' fashioned American cooking, along with Italian, Mexican, and Asian dishes. Also, if a dish looks appealing and I can recognize the ingredients, I'd be willing to try it!
My favorite restaurant?! Depends on where I am....on the Caribbean island of Bonaire...it would be Richard's...they make a mean filet mignon! Guam....Cup and Saucer for awesome cinnamon rolls, King's family restaurant, and Tony Roma's for wonderful ribs! In Australia, a favorite is "La Porchetta" Italian restaurant! YUM!
In the States, we love In and Out Hamburgers in CA; Krispy Kreme Donuts, Carl's Jr's....Denver...I think it's called, "The Claim Jumper" or something like that...the portions are extraordinary!
I like the Olive Garden too...Plus I like those little, out-of-the-way places that you may find on a drive through the country...
At home, when asking our daughters what they want for supper on occasion, one of the most frequent replies, is "meatloaf!" They love my meatloaf! I think it's because of the ketchup/brown sugar glaze I put on it during the last 20 minutes of baking....
Zaar has been so good for me and when there's something new on the table for supper my family teases that it must be from "Zaar!"
Thanks everyone for adding more variety to my menus!

My RAK wish list is short n sweet: *Anything from Australia and/or New Zealand
*Candles; I especially like the triple layer kind from Old Virginia Candle Co.
*Anything from overseas locations
*Anything unique from where you are!
*I collect and like penguins and dolphins.
