about me

I love food. I love my family. I love my animals. I love life. I really enjoy simple but special recipes. My "kids" (2 "big dogs" and a cat) usually are my taste testers...(not to mention disposals)... I look forward to having some human responses to my creations.....More than that, I hope you enjoy and find some happiness in all of them. I've enjoyed creating/collecting, it is my priviledge to share with my Zaar friends!
Favorite cookbook? Of my 500 or so, I must say Sid Goldstein's "The Wine Lover's Cookbook" takes top rank. Decadent, but absolutely amazing food, and pairs everything up with the appropriate wine to boot!

Favorite Foods:

I really don't have any "favorite foods"anymore, thanks to this site...I love them all!!!! Lately, I've been experimenting more with vegan/veggie recipes.

I CAN tell you my fav chefs however: Kittencal and Miller. OK, add Rita to that list!!!!! : ) These chefs have proven fail-proof for any recipe, any advice, and for their humor...
I like to "experiment" in the kitchen, most of my recipes are things I've thrown together last minute using items in pantry and/or freezer or fresh from the garden.
Herbs...I LOVE HERBS!!!...and GARLIC...and WASABI!!! I've recently fallen in love with homemade chipotle powder, too! I buy the local latino store out of dried jalapenos, have become known as the pepper seniorita...

I love to cook for my animals (call me crazy, but they don't!), according to my vet, I have the most healthy 13 yr-old <big> dogs he's ever seen.... at 13, they can still hang with the younger cubs at the park.....

The recipe I am asked to make most often is pound cake, and no, I won' t share the recipe. It was handed down with a promise to share exclusively....so I must honor that. It would be a travesty to post and have someone attempt to change it, anyway! You go, Miss Patsy for the best recipe EVER!!!

Unlike many others, I don't refrain from a "5 STAR" recipe review if I think the description, ingredients and directions are accurate. I don't believe that taste preferences should affect a review, as someone else may like a certain ingredient...If there are serious questions in the ingredients or the "how to's", that is where you'll find my stars lagging.....but I will always post my taste preferences along w/ the review.
