about me

In the beginning of July, I moved out to Monterey, CA, where I am working as a research associate in the Dept of Meteorology at the Naval Postgraduate School. As a native Pittsburgher, I never thought that I would be living in CA. It's truly beautiful in Monterey - I still feel like I am on an extended vacation. I finished my M.S. in meteorology at Penn State in the Spring of '08. My research was on tropical cyclones/how they form - believe it or not, we still don't know exactly! My research in this area continues here in Monterey.

Here's a picture of my mom and me that was taken near Big Sur, CA

When I found Zaar, it was love at first sight. I love the options for sifting by ingredients and categories! I participated in ZWT3 in summer '07, and it was great fun. The Devilishly Devious Diners cooked up a storm - it was a privilege to be a part of the team :-D

I'm a retired gymnast. I did gymnastics for 20 years including 4 years of college (go Rutgers!). In its stead, I've taken up running and swimming, and I completed my first marathon, the Marine Corps Marathon, in Oct 2006! Here's a picture of me at about the halfway point.

My next feat will be a half Ironman...

Favorite Foods:

My favorite cuisine of the moment is Indian. The farmer's market in Monterey has the most delicious Indian food stand. The chicken curry and chana masala is yum yum yummy good!

There are so many wonderful places to eat on the Monterey Peninsula, and I can't wait to try them ALL out. My favorites so far are Rosine's (delicious breakfast and desserts), the Fishwife in Pacific Grove, and, of course, the Indian food stand at the Tuesday farmer's market :-D

I have a fetish for fish/seafood and meals with lots of fresh veggies! I'm also really big on soup with fresh homemade bread. My chili is a favorite among my friends and family. I spent a month in Greece a couple of years ago, and a staple in my cookbook is a simple Greek salad (similar to Greek Village Salad) made with my dad's homegrown, juicy tomatoes!

My favorite restaurant in State College is Spats Cafe and Speakeasy. I just love Cajun/Creole!

This is also one of my faves :-D
