about me

A teenager who loves to cook- wierd or what? But yes, it's one of my passions! To me cooking is like an art form- there's always something new and exciting to try, and there are constantly more ideas running around in my head than I know what to do with.
I'm a vegan who also loves music, helping animals, yoga, and meditating. As any of my friends will tell you, I'm addicted to English class and plan to study English in university. However, I'm equally obsessive about food!! I sort-of accidentally converted my family to veganism so I'm always on the lookout for foods that will please, and be healthy for, all of us! I don't know about you, but I go through alternating phases of wanting: #1) really healthy food #2) really tasty food #3) just something easy, quick and cheap that I can grab on my way out the door! LOL. But I 'm definitely happiest when on the healthy track.
I am interested in the Fuhrman approach (i.e Eat To Live) but I certainly don't follow it strictly. Similarly, I love watching Gillian McKeith's show (You Are What You Eat). My posted recipes, those I haven't invented, might come from Vegnews magazine, another website, one of our awesome vegan cookbooks, or friends- but it's virtually guaranteed that I've modified them at least in some way, and if from a book or show, I always acknowledge the original source. After all, I'd want someone to do the same for me.
Despite my dad and brother's picky taste buds, I like to try new recipes as often as I can. During the school year, that's not usually as many as I want! Since returning to public school after eight years of homeschooling, I don't have quite as much time in the kitchen as I used to. But I don't let that stifle my creativity! One of my favorite activities is in the summer when I get together with my cousin ~Harriet~, who's also here on Zaar, and we cook as much as we want. Good times!
One more thing about me. I'm a Zaar game addict. And proud of it, and I'd advise anyone to join who would like more reviews on their own recipes, not to mention spending time with fun people and trying recipes they might not find otherwise. Please Zmail me with any questions or just to chat.
Hope you enjoy, and are inspired by, my ideas!

Favorite Foods:

My absolute favorite of all time is Indian. I can never, ever get enough. "The Mediterranean Vegan Kitchen", however, got me interested in the cuisine of that area.
At the same time, breakfast is often my favorite meal of the day! Toast, muesli, or fruit bowls... what's not to like?
Probably I'm best at making up smoothies. Or random leftover fruit crisps. Hey, how can you go wrong when it's all sweetness?!
I'm no good at pancakes. Gotta practice this summer. And I am not fond of avocados... but trying to learn to like them.
