I live in the beautiful “Emerald City” better know as Seattle, Washington. After 24 wonderful years working as a Flight Attendant, I traded my wings to be a full-time SAHM. I have been married for 20 years and The Lord has blessed us with one PRECIOUS & INCREDIBLE SON! He is the Love of My Life. I enjoy cooking, baseball, golfing, camping, going to our beach house, and anything cottage or shabby chic. I collect teapots and birdhouses. I love to paint flower pots, bird houses, and rocks to place in my garden. In fact, when we camp on a river you can usually find me scouring the riverbed for that “perfect” rock. On them I paint: "gnome homes", "garden angels" fairies, flora, and fauna. The shape of the rock will determine its fate. They are little pieces of understated whimsy and I love to see the smiles they bring when they are discovered. DH said we now have a small quarry in the back yard. Since I found Recipezaar, I haven't been painting as much. My favorite cookbook is the one I hold in my hands, at any one time. They are each someones favorite and all are made with Love. I do have a beautiful book, that I cherish, called “Rude Food” by the late Photographer David Thorpe. It was given to me in the early 1980's, by a {{{dear friend}}} who flew for Qantas Airlines. It is a book of photographs that you have to see collectively, to really appreciate. I must say, (in those days) I would remove it from my coffee table whenever my Grandma came to visit. Art is just as subjective as food and I would never have served her tea on the same table. LOL A collectors edition is a rare find and a true gem for the artistic eye.

My pet peeves are: "political correctness run amok", unfairness, off color jokes, mean spirited, unfriendly people...

I love coming up with inventive ways to cook unconventional camping food, while camping. At home I cook a lot of Comfort Food. I am famous for my Smothered Pork Chops. Some of my favorite foods are: CHOCOLATE, garlic, stir fried anything (almost anything), mushrooms, bleu cheese, She-crab Soup, asparagus, avocados, artichokes, eggs benedict, roast duck, prime rib with freshly grated horseradish and Yorkshire pudding, pasta, seafood (especially lobster and dungeness crab), my favorite ethnic food is Greek. I could go on and on..... Give me a chilled glass of Limoncello straight from the freezer or a jar of Nutella with a big spoon, and I am a happy camper LOL! My least favorite foods would be: airline food (remember that?), goat cheese, escargot, and any organ from any animal, however I do enjoy a fine pate and will wrestle anyone for the butter from the escargot with a piece of bread to go with. My favorite restaurant is a hole in the wall in Narita City, Japan called "The Western Beggar". 10 stools (that are never empty), 2 huge woks, and 1 very good stir-fry chef!!! The stir-fried Japanese eggplant is to die for and I have given up on trying to replicate it. I also love "Jezebel" in New York City where I had my first taste of soul food. If you are ever in Manhattan, treat yourself! The food is good and the decor is pure eye candy. If you are seated on one of the porch swings, don't drink too many of Jezebel's "Woo Woo's"!
My favorite place in the whole world (outside of Seattle) is Hong Kong. It can, and will, arouse and enliven all 5 of your senses...maybe more. Any place that can change DH into a “shop till you drop fool” is somehow VERY mystical. I am so happy I was able to share it with him! Since my job no longer takes me there, this website is the next best thing and faster than then the 15 hour flight.

Hong Kong is considered "The Culinary Capital of Asia" and is truly a food lovers paradise. If you do take a peek, scroll down to the "Have You Eaten Yet" video clip. It is just that, a peek. http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/interactive/video/index.jhtml
I am very grateful to have had a job that gave me SO much more than a paycheck. I probably would NEVER have seen or experienced the places, food, but most importantly the people I met along the way. What an adventure! I will NEVER forget my dear girlfriend and other peers, the passengers, and all who lost their lives on September 11th. I remember you all, when I lay my head on my pillow.
The world - for me - is a different place. I am so delighted to have both feet on the ground, in my hometown, with family by my side.
