about me

I LOVE to cook and eat and read cookbooks. My kitchen really does overfloweth with them and of course this has quickly become my favorite cooking site! I live with my husband in a small town in eastern Connecticut. My grown son, my oldest daughter and my granddaughter all live in Florida so we don't get to see them as often as we'd like but they do love it when I send them homemade "care packages" from home! My 2 youngest daughters are away at college now and our dull life gets interesting when they come home for visits. We're lucky that we still have our "baby" Maine Coone cat, Beau-Deux at home with us. He is now a big, beautiful 3 year old "terror" that keeps us hopping. It's like having a two-year old in the house all the time . . . and we LOVE it! I am a special-ed para for grades K-3 and although very rewarding, this job can also be exhausting. So when I am home, I really like to find quick and easy recipes to make for my family. My new goals are to find tasty recipes for my diabetic DH and I to share. My fantasy is to take a month off with my husband (no kids) and visit many of the restaurants and diners across the country, then come home and try to recreate some of my favorite recipes. My pet peeve is without question people who refuse to try anything new (be it spicy, bland, complicated or easy). Try it - you may just like it!

Favorite Foods:

I really don't have a favorite dish to cook, but most of the things I like have to be quick and easy with lots of flavor. My crockpot and bread machine are two of my favorite appliances. I don't really have a favorite restaurant - I just love to eat out! When my DH and I visited San Francisco, we did quickly adopt Scoma's as our favorite sea food place. However, since we live 3000 miles away from it, I doubt we will get a chance to eat there very often! HAPPY COOKING everyone!
