Well I've been using recipezaar for years and have recently become a member and am having a lot of fun with it! I love to cook & love to eat! I like trying new recipes, so the tag games are great, but you can get sucked in! I am also enjoying experimenting with taking food photos.
I like to experiment when I cook and find that I rarely follow a recipe as it is written. I am also pretty health conscious and try to cook low-fat for regular everyday meals (you can't skimp on the rich stuff for holiday meals & treats!). I automatically use egg substitute, canola oil, trim the amount of sugar and try to substitute part of white flour with some whole wheat.
I am a high school math teacher by trade. An exhausting but rewarding job. I interact with 125 teenagers 5 days a week, and teaching math no less! My goal as a math teacher to help my students really understand and appreciate mathematics. I guess I do a pretty good job, I get some nice compliments from former students (but certainly get my share of bad comments & complaints). But I balance the stress of teaching with cooking, gardening, reading & walking.
I've been married since 1985 to a man who patiently tries all my recipes (he is not really a food person) and we have three beautiful children who are growing up too fast.
My screen name comes from another love of mine - the outdoors & hiking. I've been involved in hiking since I was ten years old and recently got interested in letterboxing which I don't do so much in the winter but come spring, watch out! My picture is of me & the family enjoying the Adirondacks in August 2006 - we had a wonderful time! Used this for my Christmas card photo Dec 2006.
this is DH & me at my son's 18th birthday party! don't we look too young to have an 18 year old? lol!

I love shrimp scampi, grilled swordfish, pumpkin pie, any fruit dessert, eggplant, brussel sprouts, dark chocolate, red wine, peanut butter and classic homemade chocolate chip cookies.
If you were stranded on a dessert island and could have any two foods you wanted - what would they be? Gotta say - eggplant parm (the authentic, sliced thin with homemade sauce) and crunchy peanut butter! Not together though! LOL
