I found this on topsecretrecipes and I am here to say, if you like Wendy's chili, you could put this side by side and not tell the difference!

SERVES 12 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat; drain off fat.
  2. 2
Using a fork, crumble the beef into pea size pieces.
  3. 3
In a large pot, combine the beef plus all remaining ingredients, and bring to a simmer over low heat. Cook, stirring every so often, for 2-3 hours.
  4. 4
For spicier chili, add 1/2 teaspoons more black pepper. For much spicier chili, add 1/2 teaspoon black pepper and a tablespoon cayenne. (We like it hot, so I added 5-6 jalepeno peppers.
  5. 5
Leftovers can be frozen for several months.

This is the best chili! I made a big pot to freeze for those cold winter nights, and half was gone before I got it into the freezer. I will be keeping this recipe at hand for the future. I used one can of black beans in place of the pinto beans. I used 12 oz cans of beans I had on hand.

We have been making this chili for a few years now, and it is the very best. It also freezes well ,so sometimes I double the recipe just so I can have extra in the freezer for when I'm to busy to cook.I'm so glad to see it posted just in case I misplace my copy.Thanx
