Sausage Crescent Breakfast Casserole

This is a tastey breakfast casserole that can be done in under an hour! You can make it spicy or mild depending on which cheese you decide to use. Or you can mix them and choose the middle ground. For kids, I usually have to choose the mozzarella though. For adults, I sometimes add some green chiles or a seeded jalepeno, chopped very fine. But I really like heat. I also sometimes increase the garlic!

SERVES 8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Brown sausage and garlic in a skillet, stirring until it crumbles; drain grease from skillet.
  2. 2
Place crescent roll dough in the bottom of a 13x9x2 inch baking dish; press perforations and seams to seal together. Sprinkle sausage, garlic and cheese over dough.
  3. 3
Combine eggs and remaining ingredients; pour over mixture in dish.
  4. 4
Bake, uncovered, at 425 degrees for 15 minutes or until set. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

My husband and I have made this recipe several times now. The first time just as your recipe reads without cayenne. The second time we cooked 1/4 c onions, 1/4 c diced green peppers and 1 small can of mushrooms with the sausage. We also used pizza cheese instead of the other cheeses suggested. It was wonderful!

This was VERY tasty! I made this for brunch today and we BOTH really liked it! I have no idea what cresent dinner rolls are, so I used sliced croissants instead! I used local chipolata herb sausages and added EXTRA garlic with a little chopped shallot. I used grated Cheddar cheese and lots of cayenne pepper for a kick. I served this warm with chopped fresh parsley and a side salad........very much enjoyed thanks Breezermom! Made as a Thankyou Fairy Dust review for MsSally in Holiday Tag. FT
